What is chair Massage?

On-site chair massage is a short massage which comes to your location, and is given by a licensed massage therapist. Lasting between 5 to 30 minutes, it uses no oil, and takes place with the employee fully clothed.

Usually covering the head, neck, shoulders, back, arms, and hands, it can be adapted to special needs. On-site seated massage leaves employees feeling relaxed, refreshed, and ready to return to work.

A portable massage chair, designed for comfort and support is provided by the massage therapist. It can be set up and dismantled quickly in almost any location.

Why bother?.. Because stress costs you money!  Recent studies* show that:

  • Up to 90% of all visits to primary care physicians are for stress related complaints.
  • Over 50% of lost work days are stress related.
  • 14% of workers say stress caused them to quit or change jobs in the previous two years.
  • Workers' compensation awards for job stress threaten to bankrupt the system in some states.

Can Chair Massage really improve productivity?      Absolutely.
  • Research indicates* that a 15 minute chair massage results in increased alertness and increased speed and accuracy on math computations.
  • Office workers massaged regularly were more alert, performed better, and were less stressed than co-workers who weren't massaged.
  •  Massage has an energizing effect on all body systems. Including the vitally important immune system!

Speaking of Costs..................Is it Expensive?
While massage in the workplace certainly feels like a luxury, it's actually quite affordable, and very cost effective when you calculate the many benefits and the convenience of having it travel to your location! What's more, massages can take place during employee breaks, so there's no lost time from work.

The fees for On-site Massage are usually covered in one of the following ways:
  1. The employer covers all fees out of  the company Wellness Program budget, as a reward or incentive, or a special "Thank You" bonus to show employees you care.
  2. Employees pre-pay their individual session on a per- use basis.
  3. A pre-arranged combination of the above.
It's Easy to Set Up and Run !
Assign a contact person. He or she will help the Massage Therapist set a schedule, publicize the program, and sign people up.
Provide Space. A conference room, break room, or a quiet corner is fine. After the day's sessions, the room can return to normal use.
Encourage Employees to Use it. Make sure they know you support the program. Use it yourself and encourage your managers to do the same.
